Canine Physiotherapy

As per the Veterinary Surgeons Act (1966), all animals receiving Veterinary Physiotherapy must be pre-registered with a Veterinary Practice.  Consent is to be gained from your Vet prior to physiotherapy assessment and treatment, therefore Emily will contact your Vet prior to the initial appointment. However,  if the animal is receiving a 'maintenance' appointment, vet consent is not required in accordance with the Royal Veterinary College (2020). 

Services include:

  • General maintenance/review assessments

  • Post-operative support e.g. intervertebral disc disease

  • Changes in performance or behaviour e.g. on walks

  • Age related changes e.g. stiffness and arthritis 

  • Lameness (with support from Vet)

  • Musculoskeletal pain 

  • Soft tissue injuries e.g. tendon, ligament, muscle strains

  • Common joint disorders such as hip and elbow dysplasia

  • Back and neck pain

  • Strength and conditioning support

  • Neurological rehabilitation 

Assessment includes:

  • Detailed subjective history

  • Stance assessment

  • Gait assessment

  • Palpation assessment

  • Range of movement assessment 

Treatment includes:

  • Soft tissue mobilisations

  • Massage

  • Joint mobilisations

  • Muscle stimulation

  • Tailored exercise programme

Rates:

  • Appointment duration: approximately 1 hour

  • Initial Assessment: £65

  • Follow Ups: £60

  • Number of recommended sessions vary depending on assessment findings and reason for referral. This will be discussed with you during initial appointment. 

Mileage Rates

  • Appointments within 10 miles of CF71 will incur no further charges

  • 11-20 miles: £5

  • 21-30 miles: £10

  • 31-40 miles: £15
